Desperate Need for Bone Marrow Donors

There is a tragic disconnect between the need and availability for Bone Marrow transplants. The registry stands at a paltry 8 Million or so (read this piece on Bone Marrow shortage at NPR) which disproportionately affects African Americans. This is in part because their genetic profile is more diverse and harder to match but in large part because of the lack of donors
